11 dead in gas leak incident in Punjab's Giaspura area

On Sunday, a gas leak incident occurred in the Giaspura area of a district in Punjab, resulting in the deaths of eleven people, including two children aged 10 and 13 years old. ANI reported that four people have been hospitalized and the total number of fatalities was confirmed by an official to be 11, including 5 females and 6 males.

A 50-member team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has arrived at the site of the incident, but there is currently no information regarding the type of gas involved or what caused the leakage. The official stated that they will investigate and provide further details.

The area has been sealed by the police and the fire brigade and ambulance services have been deployed. Since the factory is located in a densely populated area, efforts are underway to evacuate residents.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his sadness over the tragic incident and emphasized that all possible assistance is being provided. In a tweet in Punjabi, Mann stated that police, district administration and NDRF teams are present at the scene and are providing all necessary support.
